What is the Aqua Liner?
The Aqua Liner is a proprietary compression liner developed by Tucann founder Andrew Coleman in Melbourne, Australia in 2017. Unlike the mesh liner found in almost every other men's swim trunk on the market, the Aqua Liner is made entirely from four-way stretch swim fabric — the same material as the outer shell of the trunk itself.
It provides soft compression support, dries as fast as the outer fabric, moves with the body during any activity, and eliminates the chafing and abrasion that mesh causes when wet. You can wear Tucann swim trunks all day at the beach or pool with nothing else underneath.
Why Tucann built it
In 2017, Andrew Coleman could not find a men's swim trunk that actually worked. Every pair he tried had the same problems: an abrasive mesh liner that scratched and chafed when wet, no zip pockets, slow-drying fabric, and lengths that looked outdated. The mesh liner was the worst offender — it was uncomfortable dry and unbearable wet.
After 12 months of research and development, Andrew created the Aqua Liner: a compression liner made from swim fabric, not repurposed mesh or underwear material. Tucann launched in 2017. By 2026, the brand had sold to over 500,000 customers across 110+ countries.
