On most styles, a drawstring front sits over a half-elastic back, finished with gold Tucann pendants. The drawstring fine-tunes the fit. It isn't there to hold the trunks up. Some Luxe styles close with a zip and button front.
A 5 inch inseam ends at mid-thigh. In a size M, the outseam is 16 inches and the front rise is 11 inches. The front rise grows with the size, from 10.5 inches in an S to 12.5 inches in an XXL. The 5 inch inseam is 12.7 cm.

Who it suits. Reviewers who wanted something shorter than usual trunks name the shorter length as the reason they chose this one.
Snug at the seat? If your trunks feel tight across the seat or thighs, go up one size. One customer with a 32 to 34 waist found the L sat better through the legs than the usual M.
One customer likes the length and fabric and got compliments on a trip to the Dominican Republic.

Every pair, like all our men's swim trunks, has the Aqua-Liner built in. It's our compression liner, made from soft, stretchy swim material with mild compression.
Close, not tight. One customer names the compression liner as a favorite feature, alongside the zipper. Another says the pair follows the body without holding back any movement. A third finds just the right amount of stretch.
Two layers that work together. The Aqua-Liner sits under the outer layer, so you can skip underwear. The Aqua-Liner also eliminates chafing.
A shell that gives. 4-way stretch in the outer layer of these 5 inch swim shorts gives as you kick, reach and twist.
Vents and a tapered leg. Air release vents at the back stop the shorts ballooning when you jump in, and a tapered leg gives a more refined fit.

One customer says the side zip pockets don't look bulky, and the drawstrings look fine tied or loose. Another calls the zippered pockets key.

On most styles, a drawstring front sits over a half-elastic back, finished with gold Tucann pendants. The drawstring fine-tunes the fit. It isn't there to hold the trunks up. Some Luxe styles close with a zip and button front.
Our prints use fade-proof Italian ink. Salt water and chlorine leave the color bright. One customer says the Mirage Red color really pops. A raised Tucann logo finishes most styles.
Off the sand. These 5 inch swim shorts pass for regular shorts at the table. One customer likes how the stretch suits everyday use.
One customer owns three pairs in different colors and wears them to swim, scuba dive and snorkel, then to shop and eat lunch at resorts.
Pack one pair. One customer from Alaska took three pairs on a trip to Hawaii.
Another wore a pair to the gym once, and now owns eight styles and wears them as everyday shorts.

Your waist decides your size. Measure around your natural waist, where you'd normally wear your trunks, and match the number to the swim trunk size chart. A tape measure beats the size on your jeans label. The chart puts a waist under 29 inches in an S, and 37 inches and over in an XXL. On a try-on, aim for two fingers of room under the waistband. Then sit, squat and stride to check that nothing pulls.
Between sizes. Go up for a roomier feel or down for a closer one. One customer, between an M and an L, says the L fits well, just a touch loose at the waist. Another found the L loose and the M right. A third says the L fits more like an M at the waist.
Sizes S to XXL. Every style on this page comes in S/30, M/32, L/34, XL/36 and XXL/38. The waist runs from 29 to 31 inches in an S up to 37 to 39 inches in an XXL.
Liner check. Per our size page, the right liner lies flat, without gaps or bunching, and feels supportive rather than tight.

Tucann men's swim trunks are designed in house, in Australia, from the print to the cut. Our trunks are hand-stitched.
The range. Most 5 inch styles are prints, with solids and gradients too, so one cut works for a loud pool party or a quiet lunch.
Worn and rated. One customer calls the material soft and the liner free of any scratch. Another says the color stays put and doesn't fade. A third finally found stretch swim shorts that look good without looking too tight, and likes how flat the side zip pockets sit.

Fit reviews on the 5 inch are mixed, so start with the size chart.
One customer at 5 foot 10, 180 lbs and a 32 inch waist wears an M.
Another at 6 foot and 200 lbs found the usual M very snug.
One customer who wears a 34 or 36 in board shorts found the L tight and the XXL right.
Front rise by size. An L has an 11.5 inch front rise, half an inch more than an M, and an XL adds another half inch at 12.
Our 5 inch pairs a soft, stretchy liner with bold color and a fitted leg.
One reviewer likes that fitted leg opening and bought four pairs.
Another finds the liner neither too tight nor too loose.
A third calls the colors gorgeous.
The 5 inch is made for vacation days, from the cruise deck to the resort bar.
One customer on a 3rd pair wore them all day, every day, on a trip to Kauai.
Another sees them as resort and cruise wear more than gear for water sports.
A third wore two pairs on a weekend away and got more compliments than ever.
For several reviewers, no. The hem sits at mid-thigh, and one reviewer calls the length the sweet spot. Another, who usually wears a 7 inch, says the 5 inch shows a little more leg and that it takes some getting used to.
Yes. Our swim trunks come in three lengths: 3, 5 and 7 inch. We don't make a 4.5 or 5.5 inch cut, so 5 inch is the nearest to either. Coming from a 5.5 inch pair, expect the hem about half an inch higher; coming from a 4.5 inch pair, about half an inch lower.
One customer who competes in surf events likes the fit and feel in the water. Another, a wakeboarder, likes the board short front, elastic back and drawstring for riding without worrying about the pair coming down. Tie the drawstring firmly before you paddle out.
Yes. Every pair has pockets. Most styles have zip pockets, while some Luxe styles have open side pockets and a zip and button front, so if a zip matters, check the product page first. Reviewers like the zips, and a few wish the pockets were deeper.
Yes, plenty of customers do. One customer goes jogging and takes long walks in a pair, and another wears them out as regular shorts too. If you want them to read as shorts first, pick a darker solid; a bright print leans toward the beach bar.
Yes. You'll find solid colors such as black, royal blue, khaki green and aqua, plus gradients and prints that run from subtle to bright. One customer says the colors look the same in person as in the product photos, so you can shop the grid with confidence.
Rinse off sand and saltwater after the beach or pool. Hand wash only, with soap and warm water. No machine washing: it can damage the zippers, logo and hardware. Dry flat in the shade, out of direct sunlight. No tumble drying: it can damage the fabric.
US shipping is free over $100. A pair that isn't right can come back within 30 days of delivery, unworn and with the tags on. Your waist sets the size, so check the swim trunk size chart above before you buy.
They have two layers. On the outside, a blend of polyester and spandex gives 4-way stretch. Inside, the Aqua-Liner is swim material, soft and stretchy, and its compression is mild. The fabric is quick-dry, and you'll find the tapered leg and back vents on every pair as well.
Yes. Both layers, the 4-way stretch outer layer and the Aqua-Liner, are quick-dry. To dry the pair after a hand wash, lay it flat in a shady spot away from direct sunlight, and keep it out of the tumble dryer.
